Running...

Running...

A Poem by Erin
"

All the lights are misty in the river

"

All the lights are misty in the river

All the sounds are silenced in the breeze

All the wildlife hiding from the light of silver

Sitting there, watching me.

My tired body aches as I flee in the night

Running from an unseen force

My splashing feet give the darkness a sound of fright

Screaming in agony as I run my course

Cold air is biting at my frozen legs

Hair is standing upon my arms

I fall down in the ice cold water, preparing to beg

Climbing into the tree roots, ready to sound my alarm.

Nice rhetoric device of anaphora (repetition) in the first stanza. The device effectively brings suspense in your work.

Good rhythm.

Overall this is a very nice poem. Great work.
