Chapter 3: Nina

Chapter 3: Nina

A Chapter by Writing.Bella

"Hey Nina"
I swiftly turned my head to see a group of guys staring at me. Of course it was because I was late for practice, but I enjoyed the attention all the same.
They were all sporty, as any soccer player should be. Lean, not too muscular, appetizing to the eye. They all loved the sport more than girls. Sure I'd trade my entire soccer collection to be one of their girls, but they weren't interested..in me at least. I was a tomboy in there eyes. The only girl on the BOYS soccer team, my coach moved me up after a week on the girls team and it's been my home ever since.
"Hiya Mike"
I laughed thinking about all the frilly girls who would be too afraid to talk to guys like these. A lot of the girls in my class either had boyfriends, had sex, or were too shy around guys. In a way I guess I was too, but I had no problem talking to them. Flirting was not my area of expertise, but considering our small school population, I spent the most time with the male gender.
"You ready?" He asked tossing my a ginger ale
"Got a doctor appointment, So I'm just watching today"
My mother has decided to change our family into an all healthy clan, my guess is that she thinks she's too fat--at a size 2. So instead of running around I was left on the sidelines watching adorable buts running around after the ball.
I guess I didn't mind too much, but I would rather be in there playing than in my sweats. Before you wonder if I had been wearing these all day, I would like to clear that up. YES, I wear sweats, I don't bother with makeup, I've never been kissed, no boyfriend, nada. I am a certified dude.
My phone buzzed in my pocket.
"I JUST GOT ASKED TO PROM..EEK" A very excited Jayla screamed hurting my ear.
"So much for brain stems" I joked
"Come on Nina, one of those soccer..um..people will ask you"
Crap! Prom, I had all but forgot. Lets see:
Mike was still dateless as far as I knew
Tommy was taken
Jake taken
Rob take
Tike single..oh wait no..One sec.
A large chested, big haired, blonde, souther looking poser skipped into the field. A soccer ball headed straight for her wig.
"AAAAAAA" She scream, Jeez what lungs. She must have been a singer..or a whiner.
Tike bravely kicked it out of her way before she landed in the mud. Darn, that would have been a site.
"Aw Thanks Tikey Boo"
TIKEY BOO? Wow, ok so I guess he has a date. Maybe I should ask Mike, he was the cutest, smartest, I loved him, he had a cool car, I knew his family, I loved him. You know just the usual reasons.
"Yo Dude"
My head turned at the sound of Mike's voice, I thought he was talking to Tike who now had this hand tangled in her hair, lying on the ground kissing her. Yay, he's going to prom! He wasn't talking to Tike tho. He was talking to me..I was dude.
I lifted my head to acknowledge his call. He smiled, mud staining his front right tooth.
"Nasty eh?"
He looked down to Tike, who was now covering the bimbo with mud. She didn't seem to mind, or maybe she was to busy to notice. I sighed, Mike didn't like PDA, and he was kinda shy. Maybe I should ask him???
BEEP BEEP
My mother was here, and she was obnoxiously banging on the horn of her rusted blue car to get my attention. I didn't budge.
"NINA" she howled
I shut my eyes, turning red with embarrassment
"NINAAAA" she continued
"Um, I think your moms here" he said, almost in perfect English.
He had come from a small town some where in Australia three years ago. He knew no english and was completely and adorably helpless. Now he spoke with a slight accent, but perfectly and still irresistibly.
I opened my eyes. He was laughing and pointing to my mom. She was waving to the guys and mouthing the word Nina over and over.
"Ya. Thanks"
I ran to the car, covering my face with my ragged hair as soon as I got in the seat.
"Ok..lets go"
"That Mikey boy is Kuteee" She said, pronouncing the c as a k.
"Mom, lets go" I begged
She started the car and drove off toward my little sisters school. A cute and girly, pigtailed girl hopped into the car. Ugh, my sister was the polar opposite of me. I knew, with dismay, that she would be like the barbie on the field earlier.
"Didya get asked to prom yet"
My eyes popped, how did my eight year old sister know about prom.
"Oh Nina prom!" My mothers eye's lit up
"That Mike boy should ask you"
I wish, god this was so annoying! I curled up into my sweat shirt and turned on my ipod, blocking out their planning of my dress, and hair, and shoes. Hellooo, I need a date first.
