Alone

Alone

A Poem by WritersBlock21

Alone.
You never notice how easy it is,
To realize how alone in this world you really are.
A late drunken night in February,
Smoking a cigarette on the porch.
You never realize how nice a hug from someone is,
And you have to hold yourself back from sobbing into their shoulder.
Then you remember valentine's day is almost here,
And the boys you kiss,
The men you fall for have no respect for you.
Just like your father,
With a girlfriend he waves in front of the family like he's better off.
So you notice all of this loneliness you've been holding inside,
And feel it all come crashing down on you.
But you never cry.
You've lost the capability to cry for you,
You only cry for love,
Which seems to be out of stock at the moment.
Maybe you can handle alone,
Just like you handle the world crashing down one day at a time.
