You Change For Change

As soon as you said those magic words.
"I don't want her to take him back"
She crossed your name off her list.
You were no longer part of the family.
You belonged with the other side.
So you change your name to feel safe.
To feel like you're wanted,
Like you belong to something wonderful.
You keep your old name in a hyphan,
But only for your grandparents
Because they did nothing wrong.
Because they loved you no matter what happened.
You change your name because that's something you can control,
Something you have power over.
Yet you feel like it's a goodbye,
As if you're walking away from who you were,
Because who you've become is someone they don't know.
You change something as simple as a name to make up for what changed on the inside.

i think change is life and certain things let you to get you change. same if you change you name you are change.
