Let's Pretend

Let's Pretend

A Poem by WritersBlock21

Let's pretend that it didn't happen.
Pretend you met me when I was whole.
When things made sense,
Before everything had a deeper meaning.
Lie to me,
Tell me you've been thinking of that day.
That day you introduced yourself,
To the girl with light in her smile.
The one whose life seemed normal.
Make me believe it's getting better,
Even when I cry into your shoulder,
And spin a tale of happy times
Where the family laughed and danced.
Let's pretend it never happened.
Convince me it's just a bad dream,
That I'll wake up soon.
Pretend you can help me.
