Home was gone

Home was gone

A Poem by WritersBlock21

Home was a place of security.
With a big red dog sleeping by the door
And a father always wearing that reassuring smile.
Home was where I grew into the person I was,
Until June came along.
Now the big red dog sleeps underground
And the father always cries,
Victimizing himself even though he ran away.
Home is gone for now
But I'll find it again.
So no I'm not the same girl I was before I met you,
Though I think I'm getting closer to her everyday.
Home isn't a place anymore,
Home is in the people I can trust.
I hope you'll stay long enough to realize life can't be all that terrible,
If you realize my version of home.
