A Rhyme in Heartache

A Rhyme in Heartache

A Poem by WritersBlock21

How many times can you use the phrase

"I'll be alright, everything will be alright."

Even though you're stuck in this daze.

Losing your fight.

How long can you swim with the tide,

Before that wave crashes down,

Along with your pride.

Yet you're stuck in this town,

With nowhere to hide.

No one to call,

A shoulder to cry.

To curl up in a ball

And ask yourself why.

Why do you wear a mask,

That shows emotions you seem to lack?

Even when you're up for the task,

You want the world to take it all back.

I think many of us are always wrestling with reality. Many of us put on a mask so we don't have to face the pain. Sooner or later, reality catches up to us, and we're forced make a decision of whether to make the treacherous journey, or let reality destroy us.

I liked the stanza, "How long can you swim with the tide,
Before that wave crashes down,
Along with your pride."

This is a moving, and wonderfully written piece.
