Think You Have To Be Strong

Think You Have To Be Strong

A Poem by WritersBlock21

There comes a time when you think you have to be strong,

Because the people around you cannot be.

You have to be strong so that their tears will dry,

And they won't turn into a sobbing mess.

So you clench your jaw and close your eyes.

If you don't do just that you will lose control.

You have to be strong because they count on you.

They count on you to pretend you can't hear them weeping,

Can't see the salty tears rolling down their cheeks

At eleven p.m. sharing the same bed as you.

You pretend everything is fine because you know,

You know if you hold onto to them,

You will cry.

You will cry and you will lose all of the control you worked so hard to keep.

So you think you have to be strong,

But the truth is you're just sick of crying into someones shoulder.
