Nineteen and Degree-less

Nineteen and Degree-less

A Poem by WritersBlock21
"

Feeling a little ranty

"

They think because you're not in college,

You're worthless.

But they won't say it to your face.

Instead they'll say something along the lines of,

"Well you still have a few years."

It angers me beyond beleif

That if your not in college today,

You might as well work at a minimum wage job the rest of your pathetic life.

The thing is college used to be for the priveleged.

Meaning none of us lower middle class punks would have gotten the chance to go.

So get off your high horse when we are one in the same.

The only difference being our dreams and personality.

While you go work at daddys' company,

Sulking in a leather chair behind an oak desk,

I've decided that there has to be more than this routine we've been set to.

Grow up, go to college, get married, have babies

Just so those babies can do the same thing we just did.

Why waste what little money I have when I can rake in money without owing any in years down the road?

So take your degree and shove it,

Because I see no point in wasting my life on someone elses dream.

I hope you really don't believe in that dreaded circle of school, job, marriage, baby, divorce, death. Education is always key but you have to learn what you find keen. Interesting rant.
