I Want You to be Happy

I Want You to be Happy

A Poem by WritersBlock21

I've realized I'm not THAT girl.

You know the one.

The girl who gets the happy ending.

I've witnessed it happen time and time again,

But it has never once happened for me.

I'm not whining, I swear.

It's just something that I've noticed recently.

Everytime the phone rings, I freeze.

A ringing phone means someone died.

When I hear pots clinking to the floor,

Someone in the kitchen is angry.

If I think a boy likes me,

He's already thinking of that other girl.

The girl with the happy ending.

As a little girl, I dreamed.

Dreamed of the day when I'd grow up,

get married and have a family.

Two kids, looking nothing like me.

Two big dogs and a tiny black kitten.

An open yard, kind of like my childhood.

What a dream it was.

Everybody says it'll get better.

It's been going on my whole life.

How is it going to change?

I've seen things differently,

I'm not that happy go lucky girl,

Not the one you want to deal with.

I have too many problems,

Too many skeletons in my closet.

Go after her,

She deserves you.

You deserve to be with THAT girl.

Is something like if someone gives the character in the poem the light of day is already waiting for the night so the day ends.

Happiness is relative.
The other girl might have the same problem as you have.
Then why should you not want your loved one?
