The beginningA Chapter by WriterGirl101Damien is a vampire with long black hair and crystal blue/gray eyes. He is lean and muscular and he loves his family. Damien will do anything for them. Zane and I were in
the living room, watching television, a romance movie, and Em was at a
friends’ house. We were snuggled in close, when we heard a crash from our
front yard. I ignored it, at first thinking it was our cat, but then we heard very light footsteps. There was someone out there. We stood in the middle
of the living room, waiting to see what the human wanted. It went around to the
back, and wiggled the door knob. When that failed, it tried the windows. The
person found an open one and pushed it up. We both smiled, thinking of how bad
of a thief they were. But then I smelled the garlic... Zane was still less than a year in his vampire life, and so he didn’t catch it. But he did catch me stiffen beside him. “Baby, what’s wrong,” he whispered fiercely. “Garlic; which means it's probably a hunter” I hissed back. He froze. Even though
garlic didn’t hurt us, we still knew what it meant. Neither of us had much dealings with vamp hunters but, I have fought one, a
somewhat uneducated one, and I came out of it with him dead, and I very close to
it. Although the hunter could be stupid and inexperienced, they can still use weapons and hurt us. That was three years ago. I can fight one off well now, as long as I have the upper hand, but Zane has gone without training to fight so if it is a good hunter, he will likely end up dead. I hissed at Zane to get upstairs, as the hunter was finally
in the house. He was hesitant at first, but he saw my pleading eyes, and
reluctantly left. I grabbed my fighting knives from behind our couch, ready to
fight. The only thing that can really kill us is silver, and I could smell the
silver the person had loaded on him. This person can’t sneak into a house worth
a s**t, but I could tell he knew at least something
about us. I moved closer to the wall of our living room, waiting for
our attacker. I listened to the intruders heart beat and breathing. He is nervous. I stayed in hiding for what seemed like ages, before the person began
moving towards the living room. I drew closer to the wall, posing for attack. He passed the threshold, and I leaped from the wall, onto
the hunters back. It must have scared 'him' because 'he' screamed, a loud high
pitched sound, only made for women. She turned, raising a large silver crucifix,
with a pointed end. I slapped her arm, hard enough for her to drop it. I tackled
her to the ground and then accidentally touched a piece of silver
jewelry she had worn. I hissed, pulling my hand back, a red welt already forming on the back of my left hand. She laughed, taking advantage
of my distraction, and pushed me off of her. She then grabbed the silver crucifix
again in her hand. I was almost too late as I jumped to my feet to hold her
off again. She leaped forward, and I jumped back out of her reach from the
silver. I fell back, into the cabinet of glasses, knocking a few over, breaking
them. I kicked out my long legs and knocked the woman to the floor. She
grunted, and frustrated, she threw the damned cross at my head. I ducked and it hitting the wall. I heard Zane shuffling upstairs, and I knew he wanted to
come and help. I silently prayed to God that he didn’t. And apparently my prayer was heard, because he
stopped moving after a while. I kept my gaze on the woman in the darkness. She
seemingly stared back, as I moved to the light switch just a few feet away. I pointed my knife at her, daring her to move. As I
switched on the lights, I gasped, recognizing the young girl panting on the
floor. © 2016 WriterGirl101Reviews
