A Mile in Your ShoesA Poem by WriterWannabeThis poem is about viewing perspectives from every angle and not just one's own. It's also about showing compassion towards others' situations and hard times.
To walk a mile in your shoes--
what shoe size do you wear? Figuratively, it's unimportant as long as we share perspectives, even for one mile. To walk a mile in your shoes-- would my feet hurt later from carrying all your burdens complete with emotions you bear? To walk a mile in your shoes-- would I trip on your life's challenges that you avoid each passing day with these same sized 8 1/2 sneakers? To walk a mile in your shoes-- I can't begin to fathom or empathize why you hide pain in your eyes as you venture off each morning. So I can't walk a mile in your shoes-- not literally or figuratively. But if we walk and chat a mile, then maybe we could try.
