A Mile in Your Shoes

A Mile in Your Shoes

A Poem by WriterWannabe

This poem is about viewing perspectives from every angle and not just one's own. It's also about showing compassion towards others' situations and hard times.

"
To walk a mile in your shoes--
what shoe size do you wear?
Figuratively, it's unimportant
as long as we share perspectives, even for one mile.

To walk a mile in your shoes--
would my feet hurt later
from carrying all your burdens
complete with emotions you bear?

To walk a mile in your shoes--
would I trip on your life's challenges
that you avoid each passing day
with these same sized 8 1/2 sneakers?

To walk a mile in your shoes--
I can't begin to fathom or empathize
why you hide pain in your eyes
as you venture off each morning.

So I can't walk a mile in your shoes--
not literally or figuratively.
But if we walk and chat a mile,
then maybe we could try.

I liked this. I found deep meaning in many of your lines...It is very difficult, rather impossible, to be in somebody else's shoes. I like how you wrote this. Nice.
