Nature's Arrival

Nature's Arrival

A Poem by PoeticKristen

Spring's Arrival
white cover melting here and there
succumbing to the sun
daisies present everywhere
barren branches leaves no more shun
weather -- less biting, growing warm
the earth's hard crust embracing grass
the smell of rain during a wet storm
the presence of birds, en masse
-------------------------------------------

Summer's Arrival
scorching sun burning bright
sparing nary a blade
sun pushing back the night
snow cones often made
swimming pools and sunglasses used
sunblock and tanner applied
planned days by children mused
dark skies and lightning, spied
---------------------------------------

Autumn's Arrival
heat replaced by a breeze's cool kiss
dark encroaching upon the day
colorful scenery hard to miss
earth's tones of green give way
children, darker, return to school
bathing suits folded and stashed
no more splashing in the pool
no more naps in the hammock, lashed
------------------------------------------------

Winter's Arrival
elder trees standing guard
burning wood foretold by a breeze
leaves poised to fall in yard
the cold sneaks in with ease
children donning coats and hats
chocolate, hot, often poured
lovers' warming hugs and pats
squirrels, their acorns stored
