UtopiaA Story by Asher KhanA dream which I went through, long long back, recently came back to me. Also I'm trying to hint something, - Not finished Comment if you realised what I was hintingUtopia * My trainers thudded harshly, sending specks of dust across the grey brick paths as I jogged ahead of my siblings, I gradually came to a halt as my mouth opened in awe; What lay before me brought a single word straight to one's mind: "Utopia"- A perfect world. The road continued to lead on, but rather than dry, dull and boring barren terrain alongside it as there was before, the terrain was replaced by a cascade of lush, green, soft hills which were filled with hundreds of people, yet strangely enough, the area was still quite spacious. The people who were resting here were supposedly on vacation, and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The resort was so full of life, that it felt unusual, almost unreal; Butterflies fluttering; Birds chirping; The warming sounds of infants laughing; People were playing a variety of sports, Badminton and Football appearing to be the most popular; Children chasing each other in an adventurous game of tag; Couples resting against the trees, chatting to one another; it all seemed too perfect, too good to be true. As I strolled down the path, hands in pockets, I took in full details of my surroundings and admired the breath-taking scenery, until my elder sister, Zoya, raced ahead of me, shattering the perfect painting. From what I could see, she seemed to be running towards two girls who not even she knew, although, for some odd reason, I let this "little" detail float by, and headed to my sister at a steady pace. The two girls appeared to be close, as if they had known each other for a long time, sisters, perhaps? The younger sister's head rose up, as she heard the sound of my shoes gently tapping at the ground, she had light blonde hair, and intense brown eyes, the contrast was stunning, the fact that she looked to be around my age, made it all the better. "So that's your brother?" She asked, with a hint of curiosity. Zoya looked irked "Yeah," her eyebrows creased "Why?" "Oh," she paused, "No reason." The elder sister grinned slightly, and Zoya gave the girl a questionable look, but immediately cleared the expression as I neared. "Hey" Zoya said. Thinking back to the conversation, a smug look ran across my face. "Heya" I replied. The girl waved "My name's Christie" "Uh... hi, I'm Asher." The girls giggled as I turned a bright shade of red. "Alex" the other girl barely managed. The introduction was followed by an awkward silence, which was broken by Christie. "So..." she began, we all looked at her expectantly. She brightened "How about a game of badminton?", "-Boys vs. Girls" A grin crossed my face, this should be easy. "Don't underestimate your opponents." she teased. "I was about to say the same thing." I responded smartly. "Well played." she said. "I'll just go fetch my brother", I said, as I hurried along. * "Ladies first, your serve!" I called out, as I threw the shuttlecock over the net. © 2012 Asher KhanAuthor's Note
