Don't Bother Visiting

Don't Bother Visiting

A Poem by Krista Harris
"

Just a random tidbit from my grandmothers most recent trip to the E.R.

"

 I Knew I shouldn't have

gone out for a change

Upon my return, there was a message from the hospital

My new home away from home

Grandma's there again!

One more hole in her "frequent visitor" punchcard and she gets a free valium prescription

I immediately call her

"What happened Grandma?"

"Oh I accidentally overdosed on insulin"

"I'll be right there"

"Don't even bother visiting"

"Why not?"

"There are sick people here! Wouldn't want you to get sick.

We both know you've got problems enough as it is"

I head over there anyway, since I don't think the ambulance that brought her there will take her home

I wouldn't trade her conditional-unconditional love for anything

She gets in my car and the nagging begins

I smile and say "I love you too"

This is the sweetest story.
It is so incredible that I know it
to be true.

Thank you for the uplift of my day.
