Story of a Sick GirlA Poem by Writer4Pbear13A sick girl's look at an illness that crumbled her life for 7 weeks. This is an emotional poem for me, for I was the sick girl. Everything in this poem is true.Fingers tapping, feet shuffling, anxiously waiting, Door opening, my future out in the open, The news announced, tears urging to roll down my cheeks, The story of a sick girl. Treatments begin, appointments made, Becoming friends with the nurses and doctors, Something you should never do, The story of a sick girl. Feeling the pain, struggling to get by, Wanting to get well, not knowing when or how, Struggling to find peace, The story of a sick girl. Days go by, the pain strengthens in intensity, Treatments fail, appointments come and go, “You’ll get better eventually.” The story of a sick girl. More treatments, more medicine, more tears on the pillow, Scared to death of what will happen if the treatments fail again, Praying to God to fix the problem, The story of a sick girl. No luck, illness still present in life, “Please heal me, please heal me,” the girl prays, Fighting back tears as the pain becomes unbearable, The story of a sick girl. Seven weeks later, the news is announced, The war is over, the final battle surrendered, Good news finally appears, the treatment worked, The story of an improving girl. Finally better, moving on with life, Looking back at the month and a half spent in pain, It made the girl better, stronger and wiser, I am finally a healthy girl. © 2013 Writer4Pbear13Author's Note
