Those Two Years

Those Two Years

A Poem by Writer4Pbear13
"

In February 2012, one of my closest friends committed suicide over a broken heart. I wrote this poem as I mourned over his death, and I finally finished it.

"

Two years with you

Not nearly long enough

Too many laughs

Too many cries

Not enough time to have

Two years with you

Happiness came to an abrupt end

When you decided to end your life

So tragically, so beautifully,

So peacefully.

Two years with you,

Trusting each other’s words,

Making each other smile,

Gone too soon, too quick,

Gone to a world full of mysteries.

Two years with you,

I wish I had you back,

Your smile, your laugh,

Your stories, your charm,

All gone in the grave you buried yourself.

When you committed the action,

I felt empty and alone,

No one to talk to, no one to share my jokes,

You were my friend, my companion,

But it’s okay, I’m moving on

I know you are in a better place.

Those two years, a place in my heart they will remain.

This was quite an emotional piece.. I feel goosebumps now.. I love it. :) May I make one suggestion though? Continue to repeat "Two years with you" at the beginning of each stanza. It really adds to the mood and atmosphere of the poem. :)
