HowA Poem by Mariah SmithI wrote this quickly, and it is not done. How can you say you love her? She is always there for you Fighting for you When you stop She’s there How can you push her away? She asked for one thing You chose another girl Making her an option Not a priority She’s lost How can you call her yours? You lost her You make her cry Fighting for someone Who isn’t fighting for her She’s not yours How can you think you’re great? You cause many fights You make her feel worthless She fights for you Day in and day out Fight for her How can you tell her you love her? You cannot You have lost her She ended the battles with okay She was done Long before she left She was walking away You weren’t fighting She knew she had to go It was hard She fought with herself, she didn’t
want to leave She needed to walk away She was losing herself, trying to
fix; What was broken Pulling her back, was the love she
craved The man she loved with everything
she had He didn’t love her He knew, she was just a convenience He knew, she would leave He stole the fight she had He wanted it for himself She wasn’t his Someone who was there when he needed Someone who loved with her whole
body, not just her heart Someone who needed something steady,
a rock That was her, he stole that from
her Now she’s a girl who is lost Strayed on the pathway in this
world No idea what is to happen next But knows she needs to run away From him From her family From the world She has lost herself, in a world of
opportunities She is done fighting for someone
who isn’t worth fighting for He lost that right That right is given to someone Who listens Who understands Who tries Who fights Not someone who pushes them away Not someone who blames them for
everything Not someone who doesn’t know the concept
