Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast

A Poem by Mariah Smith

His head was
Full of thoughts
As the most bitter
Sleet and snow
Came down
His horse
Stumbled upon
A patch of ice
and soon
He realized
He was lost
Soon it led him
Into an avenue
of orange trees
Covered with
Flowers and fruit
A flight of
Stone steps
Led him into
a great castle
Everywhere
There was a
Deep silence
Very soon he
fell into a
sweet sleep
A promise
to his youngest
daughter
Beauty
Asked only
for a
single rose
He went to get that
A turning
around
He saw a
Frightful, ugly
BEAST!
