CROSSROADS

Crossroads
by Patricia L Francis - Copyright © Patricia L Francis

I'm lookin' at a crossroad
just outside my door.
Shinin' bright before me
wonderin' what it's for

Where is it gonna' take me
whichever road I choose
Guess it doesn't matter much
when the journey chooses you

Go back to the woods little girl
the real world's cut you dead
It takes guts to live in it
ain't that what you said

I think I'll take your advice
and head out for the woods
You can have your illusion of strength
in a world of guilt and shoulds

This life has been one long maze
full of stops and starts
Thousands of decisions made
tuggin' at my heart

So do I live for what I am told
is the one true way to be
Sell my soul to the money god
sounds like a lie to me

Our values are different
it takes courage to be free
Your world's an illusion
It takes guts to be a tree

That wasn't what we were put here for
No, that wasn't what God said
I hear the waves on eternal shores
crashin' in my head

My heart is pounding
like the future at my door
Shinin' bright before me
wonderin' what it's for

What of the path before me
callin' me to go...
Whisperin' so silently,
the secrets of the snow...
