Mountain Girl

Ain't much left for a Mountain Girl
Tryin' to make it in this heartless world
She prefers a bubblin' stream
to the City Lights
She hangs on to her mountain dreams
Places where the air is clean
Where the wind whispers through
the evergreens
Another night in this big old town
listenin' to the trucks wind down
Wonderin' how it ever got
this way
She remembers the movie shows
Where the hero always goes
After the girl
that he cares for
She's lookin' for that man
Who ain't afraid to take a stand
Who cares enough to hold her hand
in the mountain breeze
But in this age of self and greed
He ain't nowhere to be seen
A mountain girl is left to dream
all alone
Another day, Another Dawn
Time moves, she's movin' on
Lookin' for her hero to
ride into town
But all the horses have long since died
And the heroes learned how to hide
She hangs her head down on her pillow
and starts to cry
Please don't tell her she is wrong
For hangin' on for so long
Or that her heroes are forever gone
into the past
Cause she knows there's a man out there
Who's still heroic enough to share
A Mountain dream with this
Mountain Girl
Ain't much left for a Mountain Girl
Tryin' to make it in this heartless world
She prefers a bubblin' stream
to the City Lights
She hangs on to her mountain dreams
Places where the air is clean
Where the wind whispers through
the evergreens...
Ain't much left for a Mountain Girl....
