MISLAID SERENADEA Poem by Writer At 13A woman realizes the change in her man when he no longer sang songs to her at night.MISLAID SERENADE by Writer At 13 It kills me to keep wond’ring How something doesn’t feel right. It seems like something’s just wrong, Something’s just wrong about the night. You laid your body next to mine, And so our hands intertwined, But there was something missing. Something that didn’t come into your mind. You used to come home in the dusk And sing to me a song of affection. But you came in so differently, We just didn’t have that old connection. I looked into your eyes And then I asked you if you were okay. You said you were, But you were looking the opposite way. I sniffed your warm body And it smelled of a woman’s scent, And it made me weep While beside you, amidst the silence. You said so directly You’ve got caught in between. You always wanted to see me, But you wanted to see her still. Without second thoughts I set you free, No matter how much pain it may take. But please just sing me one last song, For that mislaid serenade. © 2011 Writer At 13Author's Note
