Icy Pain

Sometimes our hearts are left to be frozen, unfeeling. But there's always a heat burning beneath.

It's been a while

Since I've bothered to smile.

Painful memories,

Burning my heart away.

Tears slip free.

Shinning as they flee.

As if filled with glee.

My heart left broken,

Screaming yet unspoken.

Covered in an icy sheet,

Burning beneath,

with a blazing heat.

For a while,

I fake a smile.

Feelings frozen,

My pain I've chosen.

The poem certainly floods down the page with the sorrow of heartbreak and the heavy weight of memories crashing down upon the head... Yet... in your authors note... you say we must live! So... why not add that to the poem? So that not only would we feel that expression of pain and frustration, but also the hope of light and a better time. Just an idea. =)

Thanks for the review! And I was actually thinking of doing that, adding to it, to give people things upon life, and living, but at the moment, I'm in the zone of darkness and hurt, so I must get back to it. Thank you, again!

Well, I hope that darkness finds some sun and the hurt finds a good glass of joy. I've always found it helpful to remember that every step in life has just the same amount of chance in being good as it does in being bad...so why continue walking, you might get lucky. In either case, it's learning experinece you grow from. =) Best O Luck in finding a bright patch soon.
