Rare dark streets,

The smell of chemicals

Ether hanging in thin air

Hospital odor meets;

 

Dancing on your bed,

Looking at the sky, 

The ceiling lights so high,

Flashing, before your eyes,

Trembling, shaking fled ...

 

Needles in your arms,

Blood through your veins,

Darkness in your thoughts, 

Life in your pains…

Silence for a while...

There is a little bit of

Death in your breath...

After each time we've met...

Your darkness, to me, is everything. It is the light from which I can always feel you, see you, and know your emotions. This poem reminds me of a song, I mean, it could be one. This piece made me want to smoke a cigarette, but I dare not. My baby will tell me off. You are special.

Gritty and raw... I like this one, my friend; something a little more on the dark side. You can run the gambit of love and darkness, because I think that you dwell someplace in between (so do I). We are all dying...slowly each day; it is quite a thing to imagine, but it is absolutely true. Really enjoyed the read, my friend.

Everyone has a dark side...the one's that hide theirs are just a little darker sometimes. (ha) This piece made me think of heroin overdose for some reason. I got impressions of surgical green, stainless steel, and a strong antiseptic smell. Very well done. A Fav!

Sounds like the end of life, the drugs, the brain shut down and the illusions that many call visions. This is dark and disturbing and highly effective.

wow, i have an ex whom this could be about...back in her drug days...before she got sober and clean...

she survived luckily and is doing great now...she works in the fitness field...but she has stories...and from some i've heard...i could picture her being this person...

hit too close to home...but then a good poem will do that.
