~ November Days

There is a cold sharp wind

Short days of light,

Move too quickly

Around the axis,

At least it seems so,

The days go so much

Faster then I keep track.

Where I walk,

The sun shines,

A soft and

Misty gleam,

Above the cold water,

Like a blanket,

To hold it warm, and

Extend the season…

Trees feel lost, and

Are tired and powerless,

I imagine myself in their

Fallen leaves,

Hiding there

For a while,

To feel me warmer.

This poem painted a vivid and beautiful picture in my mind. It took me on a "mental vacation". I love the way the words flow together. I think the format you used for the words was perfect. This poem relies a lot on imagery, yet it still has a lot of emotion. It is mysterious and complex, yet it still has a simplicity to it. A gorgeous and wonderfully written poem!

This was simply beautiful, Elisa. There is something so soothing about autumn. It's as if God has taken a paintbrush to the leaves if for no other reason than to bring a smile to our face. And to fall into those sames leaves is to be wrapped in the comforting blanket of nature. Bravo!

It is a final farewell to the warmth of nature for a season...
Yes, to lie in the fallen leaves is like a happy wake to the death of Autumn.
We hold on to even the smallest hope as we rest in what was and no longer is, yet soon will be made new again.
Much like life in general Eli.
I love the music with this poem too. Great work.

To hide in a pile of leaves the trees have shed.....what an image, Elisa! It touches on so many senses. There is a sort of melancholy throughout your poem. Autumn is ceding power to winter and the days are shorter. I don't like it when the sun goes down so early either. There is a hunger for something in your words....not sure what....a sort of wanting to find an escape. I liked it a lot, Elisa. Knuffels, Lydi**

Time for a snuggle indeed! Fire pits, hot ciders, feasts, books, warm blankets, cool breezy poems and fuzzy hearts. It goes by way too fast! Love this sip in time!

Ah, the seasons changes do make us yearn don't they? I always find this time of year a harsh shift, the lack of light is really a powerful thing to embrace...still, it helps to think that as winter kisses the earth, roots of life still bloom beneath the surface, ready for the warmth when it returns....

This is so beautifully voiced hon, an aching inside is felt here.

I really don't know what it is exactly about your words, but I am always whisked away to someplace completely new and untouched by my mind. As if a gentle hand lifts me and cradles me on a journey of color and vibrant imaginations dancing about before my eyes. So innocent is this poem today, to hide in the fallen leaves and feel me warm...If this were the last poem I ever read I would walk away happy.

In the midst of November, your words comfort me....
Although the season brings chilly weather, you bring the warmth...
You brought back memories of my childhood, when hiding under the leaves felt like a safe haven

I totally agree that there is not enough light now. When the sun goes down and it turns black around 4:30 pm, I feel like its after six. Drowsiness weighs on me, I feel suddenly tired, exhausted. Without light, my eyes begin to battle to stay open. And I love the sight and sound of fall leaves before winter. I remember always running and jumping into them as a kid, hearing them crunch and shuffle around us. As with their colors, stunning :)
