~ And On The Final Day

There was a table for two,

   On the end of the train carriage,

       I smelled your perfume as light as the wind;

It felt more familiar than ever,

    It was like I made love to you from afar,

         By the pure smell of your skin;

And the smell merged with

     Robust heart notes mixed with a fresh

          Touch of citrus and lavender,

Soft as the wind, to spoil my nose,

      And then you grabbed my hand,

            You rough firm handshake, was your character,

One could blindly recognize you with;

      And so I turned around, and

             Swallowed in tenderness, of love

Red cheeks, as fresh  as wild roses,

       With some dew on it…

              No, it was you, I didn’t dream it,

And the sparkles in your eyes,

         Were as if I read the most beautiful novel,

                While I stared at you...

A novel, I almost finished; but kept on

          Reading and repeating,

                 So the last chapter would never end,

It just needed to be there... for eternity;

          Over and over again, in the train scene;

                  Where they finally met, on their way

To the heart of Barcelona…

How romantic, those moments, the first meeting of soulmates, the wonderful feeling it brought to the two lonely soul's journey, the noticeable bond between lovers - oh those feelings... i felt it here... a captivating scene you had brought us into this expressive piece... I really do like it...

I think you may have done a very rare thing and moved me, El. The music is perfect and the bit that got my attention most was the 'And the sparkles in your eyes, Were as if I read the most beautiful novel, While I stared at you...' - but perhaps that's because I'm a reader myself.

The only proof-read thing I noticed was on the line 'A novel, I did almost finished; but kept on' you don't need the word 'did' in there. But this is wonderful, and I wouldn't be surprised if it holds a little more personal sentiment for yourself, also. Thanks :)

This poem fills my mind with the gist of an ever repeating romantic rendezvous for two on a train to Barcelona. You appeal to all the senses here, perfume, color, touch.

As if I were in a dream or a trance, mystified by your words, the colors, the scents, the sound of the large wheels on metal tracks melodically hypnotising me as I read, never wanting to wake. Soft voices, love filled expressions, flowery skirts and button down shirts. So beautifully offered up this day, as if by magic, a beautiful bouquet appears from thin sweet air. Nicely done my friend.

Superb. This is a romantic black and white film. A modern Brief Encounter. Beautiful and delicate. Like remembered lace.

This is so stunningly beautiful! I rode the orient express as a child and even then there was a richness/mystery to train rides. When you mix it with passion who could dismiss it! I am also feeling dreamy in the musical inspirations you use with your pieces. Bravo!

Oh if this was the way you met your hubby, I am floored. I am swept away anyway at this beautiful poem Elisa! I love these images, of knowing, recognizing, making love to this familiar scent, cheeks as fresh as wild roses... And a novel read over and over so it's story never ends... This makes me sigh so much, how I love this!!!!
