~ She and The Harpist of Rome

She heard his light strings,

Whirl along the quay,

They sung, they touched her

Heart, through fine senses,

Among the green gardens

Of Rome, that day --

The sunshine, shone,

Rosy on her cheeks;

The smell of fresh jasmine,

And newly fallen rain,

Gave a combination,

Of gossamer odors, and to fain;

He did imagined her in as

The pure perfume of Rome,

And with the distant

Sound of horseshoes;

Tapping on the cobblestones,

To make his musical notes complete

It brought the rhythm of the day,

In a floral silk oasis -- touched,

With the essence of her being

And by his sublime creativity felt

In his head, like a never ending

Dream...

The mix of these fresh colors

That a mind can perceive, in the purest

Coherence, filled with ozone,

And the sun... she so close...

The elegance and music, made her

Together with the ambience to

Fulfill and embrace

And a heart to be full of love -

To be finally home.

My GOoDness Elisa...
where do I start...How about, I absolutely loved everything about this write...everything
I'm not usually a big fan of accompanying music, but in this case it worked purr....fectly...then the picture of Giuliano...and away we go....
But the write...sublime in every way, shape and form...beautiful, thoughtful, classical imagery brought this dream to life. The spontaneous and unforced change in style, erratic but purposeful rhyming (especially the near rhymes), and your grasp and usage of archaic words (fain, quay),
a touch of metaphorical brilliance and voila...a masterpiece. This is as close as you get.
Awesome write Elisa...Great poem...wonderful message of love.
BTW...I always sleep with a pencil and pad and tape recorder near my bed for just those situations...
Ain't no way I'd remember diddly the next morning..or even 30 seconds after awakening..... some of our best visions are just before dawn.

I've never been to Rome but I would love to visit just to take in the old architecture and those kinds of things...this poems represents the closest I'm likely to ever get to the city...it truly brings the spirit of Rome to life...I can close my eyes and almost picture the jasmine and cobblestones and colours...you've penned a vibrant and imaginative piece here my dear friend...beautiful work :) xo

I absolutely love this poem, capturing the romantic times of Italy - (I imagine the Renaissance era) , with so green gardens, as in that wonderful photo with labyrinths of plants, fountains and sound of seducing and melancholic music. In this atmosphere everyone could fall in love! Italy is a symbol, creating in our minds air of art, love and Antique times, where many styles influence each other...It`s one of my dreams to visit that country! My favorite verses are connected with the beloved woman:
The sunshine, shone,
Rosy on her cheeks;
The smell of fresh jasmine,
And newly fallen rain,

Wow what a picture you paint with words.. "Tapping on the cobblestones," Italy is so famous for it's cobblestone streets, wow >< you made me walk through the city of love. It's not so much about their relationship but it's about the welcome home.. the sights and sounds of a place she grew up in. Truly magnificent, truly beautiful. stunning write, I loved it!

I have read this poem many times before now and only one word came to mind - Baroque. Extravagant and highly dramatic. You are classic, my friend.
