~ There Was No Time Left

There was no time left

In his dark room full of smoke,

He was too late

There was no time left

To save her,

Embrace her,

To feel his heart melted with hers

By day, she would be gone,

Choked into all what was left

Maybe she was no more…

Yet, he was calm, to his core,

He knew there wasn’t more pain,

He coughed and fell down

With his head on the floor

He saw her face, gleaming in red

Was she the lady he never had?

Was she the smoke in his lungs

The spell of his death?

There was no more time left….

No time,  no nothing…

Left to be said

"Was she the smoke in his lungs The spell of his death?" Oh my what a powerful line.

I can answer this question.

She is the vapor in my breath where I am just the mist
She is the cloud in my head where I am just the dream
She is the reason where I am just the existence
She is the soul where I am just the body
She is the light where I am just the shadow
She is the vessel where I am just the fragile

She is the scream caught in my throat
The tear I refuse to shed
She is the why to my question and the answer
The question I refuse to ask
She is my future and will be my past
The now I refuse to leave behind
She is my comfort and my joy
The reason there is a smile on my face

I love her more each day as we live our lives away.

Awesome poem, It was a joy to read...!

Lots of powerful imagery and emphatic lines within this well written poem. Love the picture as well it adds a aura of suspense for the title to set up a backdrop for an intriguing theme for all eyes to see. Great write Elisa, I enjoyed everyline. :)

Dear Bpoet thank you greatly for this touch to it............ x
Some of these lines are amazing, my friend! You've broken through the barrier with this one for sure. Time...the exploration of there not being enough or sometimes being too much; it's something I often wonder about myself. I love the metaphorical nature of this piece, as it can be anything the reader chooses for it to be.

Thanks Dear :)
Desire often lends to the flames of the heart, to what we seek and perhaps even feel that we need, but alas, where there is fire, you find the smoke, congesting our thoughts, clouding our dreams, tempting us to reach in and hopefully not get burned. This was dark, dear Elisa, deep and filled with temtptaion and longing and so very beuatifully written, It encased me within my own dreams and reminded me to wake at one point or the other and breathe.
