~ Luna

Nocturnal delight intoxicated

By dark desires, of shape

Deeper feelings mirrored

Rugged against his skin

She came slowly closer

And made herself so thin

Now his face was illuminated

With her sleek pale shape

His eyes so hypnotized

In trance by watching her

In slow motion while she danced

A little around her axis

Her smile became so huge

When she stood in front of him

Her eyes he could imagine

As when her face would glow

He had to wait just a bit longer

Before she would let him show

Slightly she passed him by,

Just lost her for another night

He was just so alone and petrified

And couldn’t move along

With his arms he tried to reach her

For she by day just would be gone

I found myself most intrigued by that entire last stanza, I reread it a few times, savoring it, trying to figure out where it could lead me. I feel the loss, but also, perhaps the promise of a return, somewhere, sometime... So many interpretations we can give, I love how you don't give all the answers... Your words can live on beyond the conclusion. Bravo. Extra info: I named my cat Luna! ;)

The moon goddess and her mountain....how gorgeous, my star sister. I am in love with the line: "in slow motion while she danced a little around her axis". I love this idea of this moon dancing with her lover. As earth and heaven collide in the rythmes of the night. Surely all the stars are smiling in this one for their happiness. She is a beautiful dancer, this lady of the moon :)

So well done, dear Eli.

Thank you very much :)
How beautifully expressed. perfectly capturing the photograph, as well as the mind. This is structured so well as to be perfect with the photo, and still perfect without, instead painting an altogether different image in the mind. onderfully done Elisa

Oh I love this! It felt like a dance...slow to intertwine, hypnotizing. This reminds me of the "lady and the hawk", when Michelle Pfeiffer's character turns into a hawk by night, and misses her lover as he turns into a wolf by day. They are cursed. Never to meet by day or night... only when it passes each other by seconds. This piece has the same bittersweet dance... beautifully written!

You remake ordinary topics for poems and typical titles into silken bouquets and dreamy hurrahs.

Like a diamond grinder at work in slow motion, I can almost read your lips! Ely!

It is how I saw the mountain, loving la Luna.... thank you so much Michael, for your insights. :)
I forget briefly that this poem was about the moon and was wondering what type of woman would tease and then leave a man like that. ;-) Ah the moon! That floozy.

It's a lovely poem with beautiful imagery. I especially like the opening lines. You capture well the yearning, together with the lonliness.
