~ The Finger

In old forgotten days

Where she was a little one

There was always something

To think about and the fist raised

If she didn’t agree with the mature

Or felt their failure, as a waste

The finger was a message

To those hatred people

From early state she knew

Some were lovable,

Others had no clue

But the finger was their due

She was an early rebel

One who hated injustice

One who fought for right

And to spread the lovely light

It was just they wouldn’t see

What the child brought so bright

She loved to give the finger

To those who weren’t honest,

For them who made some fights

And even when she was just five

She did knew all her rights.

So if you recognize her,

Please come and tell me soon,

Because I’m searching for her

Finger to put out into this room

Oh does this bring back nostalgia. I remember when I learned what that fingered meant at a very young age, and the power I felt from it. Lol kids do the darnedest things , and I love how you portrayed that in this piece. I think we can all pretty much relate to this. Great job, Elisa (as usual) .

I think flipping someone off can be such a meaningful and bold statement. Reminds me of Tupac giving Biggie the finger when he was being wheeled into the ambulance after getting shot. lol. Nice job.

That freedom is amazing when you can express your anger without thinking much about the consequences...
