My Tongue's Ecstasy

My Tongue's Ecstasy

A Poem by
"

Hate to Love It

"
I love food
It's like a hint of ecstasy to my taste buds
And a short moment of dead emotions
But so much pain has this simple pleasure caused me
Constantly thinking about it with intense thoughts
Not pleasant ones
So I locked myself in my room
To keep me from going into the kitchen
And shoving every single edible item into my mouth
Sometimes I ate so fast
That my taste buds were only somewhat awakened
But I ate until my stomach started to cry
And until I started to cry
I hate food

This poem was inspired by eating disorders. Feel free to state your opinion on the subject. I don't really like the way it flows but hope you still enjoy reading it :)

I know eating disorders are a serious matter, but there is a hilarious side effect to this lucid piece, satirizing the lure of taste buds, and by inference all senses.

It suggests a series exploring the addictive deliriums of sight, sound, smell, and touch as well.

I think the piece reads well as is, and could just as easily be constructed as prose. You break it down verse-wise well though. Should be "awakened" 4th line from bottom.

Good work.

I like the philosophy behind this. Just imagine replacing food with cocaine or another drug. It fits perfectly.

I like how this isn't meant to be a fancy, overdone piece, but rather a kick straight into the jaw to show and expose the drug we call food.

Simple yet profound piece with a message that I can heavily relate to. Well done
