New Soul

New Soul

A Poem by

Cold
Shallow
Empty
Dead

You run through my mind
You damper me
The shallow promise I gave myself
The empty hopes for connection

No longer can I stand where we stood
No longer can I say what I said
Things have changed
I have changed
You're the same
You're what I need

I am no longer the soul you knew
I am now the soul you were warned
The soul you saw coming
The soul that you feared

I do not blame you
I do not blame myself
I blame the world

This
Cold
Shallow
Empty
Dead
World

Thank you both for the positive reviews! This is just what I needed to encourage me to continue writing poetry.
Also thank you for advice of the word choice, Yetifax, I like that much better.
Again, thank you.

I like how you tied the beginning and end of the poem together with the same adjectives. :) It conveys the mood of the poem well.

The only things I saw that could have improved were probably

"I do not blame me" --- Me is a decent word choice, but would probably sound better "I do not blame myself" or something of that nature.

Overall though, good write.

The world can be cold and harsh, well expressed
