A Deal is A Deal

A Deal is A Deal

A Poem by
"

I was actually fiddling around with words I don't use often enough like 'insatiable', 'rift', and other things of hellish nature seen below. And it's been too long since I wrote a dark poem.

"

A black void of insatiable hunger looms before me,

And Satan with his crooked grin looks up from the fiery pits.

"A deal is a deal." His voice is a thousand screaming demons,

As he reaches through the rift of space to seize my arm in his claws.

A deal is a deal... I should never have hoped I could escape,

When Hell gave me its power to slay the enemies of my country.

Now the price must be paid with my life, my blood, and my soul.

I put up no struggle as I'm dragged into the pits of eternity.

A deal with the Devil himself... A mistake you cannot learn from,

As you'll never escape his grasp once he has you in his talons.

Like a hawk, he waits for desperation, and snatches up his victim

With promises of strength and joy when he only steals the very same.

So... A deal is a deal. Goodbye to my country,

My comrades alive and dead.

To be a foolish hero, I've given up my soul

And I'll never see the sun again.

Author's Note

Just a little experiment, but I like this 10-minute work.
