dormition

A Poem by

Death it stalks

Drawing near

A dark faint silhouette

Waiting to steal

The life she once had

Her time coming to a close

Calling round the blessed 12

They knelt and prayed

Yet deaths cold shadow still passed through

The light dwindled in her eyes

Yet she smiled for she had no fear

She knew her time was up

And with tears she said her goodbyes

And in the midst of the darkness closing in

She took her final breath

Knowing were her path would lead

Then bursting forth

Bright as day

Her savoir stands beside

He has returned once more

With open arms

He pulls her in

And affectionately held her close

Wrapped in his loving arms

She knew his mercy yet again

He smiles down at her

With compassion in his eyes

He carries her up into eternity forever more.
