Leaving Home

Leaving Home

A Poem by

The sunlight warm had cast a charm ,
on my mind today
I could hear aloud and clear ,
please don't go away .

I looked around but none I found ,
save the oldest garden tree ,
it seemed somehow every outstretched bough ,
was waving back at me.

It pained my heart but I had to start ,
I opened the gate to go ,
every step I took I turned to look ,
my pace so very slow .

As I waved goodbye I heard a sigh ,
as wind blew through the grass
A helpless voice ,"I have no choice ,
you may pass you may pass".

Utterly enchanting and beautiful... I am struck speechless by the emotions in this poem. My eyes filled with tears as I came to the very end, which I must say was closed absolutely superbly. In truth, I was just blown away by the last two lines, without a doubt they left a gut-wrenching impact. There is no place like home. Nowhere better to be but in the one place that holds many of your fondest of memories. I love this piece, Abhijit. Amazingly written.

This has a deep nostalgic verve to it. I can remember the feel of being unaware and unsure of what the future held for me when I moved out for the first time. I can say this empty feeling stayed with me for a few months after I left home. I couldn't sleep at night because it didn't feel right. I am kind of an old pro at it now, but the feel of this piece brings back the memories strong in my heart. You know what makes a home a place of love is the loved ones who share it with you, and I don't think I will truly feel the loss of a home until I lose them, and those days will truly bring mournful memories that I won't ever be able get over. This is a fantastic write, solemn in nature, but full of feel, and written so well in form. Thank you for posting it, and thank you Tate for sending it my way!

Great Write!

Tommy

Great great work here mate! First I must thank Tate for steering me here.

As I waved goodbye I heard a sigh ,
as wind blew through the grass
A helpless voice ,"I have no choice ,
you may pass you may pass".

I very much see a little of romantic style in you. And as Wordsworth said in the notes of 'Lyrical Ballads', poetry sure can be felt without a complex diction of words. He proved it and you prove it again.

Also, keep on with the classic style. Keep writing.

The comas are reaching like shadows ,the periods fallow behind .
This ending will set a pause ,will my lawnmower start next time .
you pass with flying colors .
