Nation Under Fire

Nation Under Fire

A Poem by
"

What will happen when resources run out and people are on edge??? What happenes if we get a dictator????

"

The sky is light, but the air thick.

Children don’t stay out long, inside quick, quick

Morphine in the air, putrid and grey.

Our legals, the government, has nothing to say

The gas enters our blood, painful no more

We writhe in our bodies fighting the cold

The snow is not snow, it’s grey with ash

Look at us now, nothing left but the past

The fumes light trees on fire, make birds go mad.

The fate, to say the least, is all very quite sad.

Nations dropping bombs on their own land,

The people stand up, raising a hand

The fist is a way, an emblem no doubt

Our authorities bite nails, and begin to pout

An uprising, a roar

We are done, no more

Don’t tell us what to do, we won’t listen

All these people dead, and missing

Our security to blame

The death toll adds shame.

When our nations falling under attack,

We, the citizens, are the ones fighting back

The air we breathe makes it hard to see

Am I human? This life I lead, human-I don’t want to be.
