I'll Keep on Running

I'll Keep on Running

A Poem by
"

I shall keep on running.

"

Keep on Running

You set your fireworks in a bottle

I’ll keep on running.

Your lungs burst from screaming at me

I’ll keep on running.

A quiet whisper in my ear

I’ll keep on running.

A push or a punch

I’ll keep on running.

The narrowing of your eyes

I’ll keep on running.

Turn around

There’s nothing you can say

There’s nothing you can do

Turn around

I’ll keep on running...

This poem, I feel, wouldn't be able to stand on itself. Its strong and emotional but not that strong and emotional. The one object that wrapped this whole piece up was the picture at the end. The "Bang!" I absolutely fell in love with the third stanza,

"A quiet whisper in my ear
I'll keep on running."

That particular piece was just beautifully written and it gave the picture of a woman, since I'm one, whispering in a man's ear, since your one or you both are...confusing, while he is running towards the door, trying so hard to get away from whatever is scaring him. The last thing I have to say is that the ellipsis at the end of the poem ended it perfectly. This was a real treat!

I like the duality of running either away or along your own path at your own pace

I think that this piece exemplifies a strength that would be useful to many people. It seems vital to keep running away from emotional turmoil. I have had many relationships with men in which I should have kept on running. I am much more aware of this mssg nowadays. I have been in multiple relationships in which I should have kept running, however, I just didn't know how and didn't have the self esteem to run for fear of being alone. Now, after several years of not being in a relationship, I have been able to nurture my wounds and rebuild my self up with a higher self esteem and the knowledge that when the time comes for me to have a relationship that I will be able to detect the healthy ones verses the icky ones that will just suck me dry of all of my emotions and self esteem. This is a very enlightening piece....peace, balance and harmony
