Cancer of the MindA Poem by
Cancer of the mind
Ravaging my heart and soul I told myself I was finished, through But now my words have lost their meaning Leaving me with nothing but a troubled head Cancer of the mind The altar for all death Death of love, life, and joy Buried deep below the soil around which roots of hatred Have choked out all love Cancer of the mind A place where the children grow, Where even Peter Pan cannot fly And the brightest star doesn't shine Where blood takes place of holy water Cancer of the mind Where periwinkle lace flows in and out Even though colors haven't broken into shades And shapes haven't learned their place And fingers haven't acquired talent enough to work Cancer of the mind An unforgettable journey Not a race to the finish line Because there are no legs to run, no feet to stand
The world lacks hands to touch, arms to bend Cancer of the mind Disease of the soul Death of the heart And they're never coming back So just be prepared and live your life. © 2012Author's Note
