Bartender

Bartender

A Poem by
"

We've liked eachother since 2005, but the time I realized I can't stop thinking about her is the time I feared she stopped liking me. The poem shares my feelings towards her.

"

Bartender get me a drink ‘till I’m lovedrunk,

I’m a walking blues with little sleep.

To me true love is dead, since it was anything but junk.

I loved her… I lost her… I still weep.

To this day, true love is dead.

Today I’ll drink ‘till love becomes a silly word in my head.

Bartender give me another shot, I'm not lovedrunk yet, only tipsy,

I'm tripping on sadness, feeling gloomy, without a second date.

My feelings for her were crumpled up and sold to a gypsy.

Last summer was a living hell, but it ended with a kiss of fate.

I have to confess my obsession. I think of her for days and days.

Alcoholics have their habits, and love addicted musicians have their ways.

Bartender it’s been a while and now I’m clean & sober.

Date two was amazing, I believe in love again.

I was too lovedrunk to face emotions, but now rough times are over.

A coward hides from oppurtunities. I made my own and say amen.

Heartbroken I was, move on I could not.

The battle’s won, the war is over, yet it was well fought.

Author's Note

The first part took five minutes, and a few days later, the second part took 15. Odd, no?

I love the analogy of the bartender, it is perfect for the theme.

You explore these addictions so insightfully. One could feel your words playing out like a song. Painful, though longing in some way for all of the pain to be washed away...
