The Days I Recall Being Wonderful

The Days I Recall Being Wonderful

A Poem by
"

Don't ask.

"

I

That’s what they were.

Wonderful.

Change is a horrible thing,

It ruins,

It destroys and it

Separates.

I remember everything.

From the rain on your nose,

To the third plate whizzing past

My ear.

I remember the laughter,

The jokes,

The pranks.

The good and the bad.

I remember the gatherings,

The drink and the movies,

The nachos and popcorn.

The sticky floors.

I remember the family times,

The ‘Pre-Christmases’,

The cousins,

The food. The presents.

II

The long road changes,

The long road departs in different

Directions.

And yet, it continues to spread before your feet.

Before my feet.

They were the days I recall being wonderful,

The days that will stay with me till my least breath

Deserts me.

The friendships made and the loves lost.

There are some things I cannot change.

You and I,

Are in the Here and Now.

The past is past,

And the future is future,

The long road ahead.

Everything will change, my love.

Nothing stays the same,

And nothing is forever.

Never forget them.

Those days we all recall being wonderful.

Hand in hand,

We walk the long road,

And we walk it together,

Taking everything we can.

Through the changes.

The days I recall being wonderful,

I’ll make my own.
