A philosophical reflection that has occurred in one of the more blessed moments.
Ever tried to read a story with your eyes closed?
Ever tried to taste the spices in conversations?
Ever found sense in nonsense?
Lingering thoughts that go astray,
And was discovered to go somewhere,
A serendipity of dreaming,
Lines of thoughts stream,
Like the cloud on the windshield this afternoon,
During a trip unplanned,
And ended up in a bar,
All alone with nothing,
But table napkins,
In an isolated table,
And conversations,
Hundreds on tables,
Seem to dissolve,
And conversations,
Millions in the mind,
Seem to come alive...
How notorious could wisdom be,
When it hits you,
As you dream with your eyes open,
And as sense comes in,
There goes the cloud,
As just the cloud you found a similarity too...
Ever sang?
With your drink,
Your only listener,
Quiet,
Without applause,
Was is better than criticism?
Best drank than pondered???
And through the drive home,
The world was ignored,
As all that is seen is the bed,
In a few moments,
Dreams will continue,
Beautiful dreams,
As beautiful as the city at night,
The quiet city at night...
Your poem is worthy of so much praise and admiration. Your descriptions are delightful and pensive and leave the reader to conjure up a complete screenplay to go with your wonderful poem!
Your wisdom throughout is highly attractive and lingers...
"Ever sang?
With your drink,
Your only listener,
Quiet,
Without applause,
Was is better than criticism?
Best drank than pondered??? "
....You have many, many exceptional phrases and your whole poem satisfies immensely!
.... your poems never fail to make me ponder and think. they're well-written, and this one perfectly captures the contemplating moments of a drunken mind! amazing, Robert Lowell style of writing.=)
I'll say it again; your creativeness is one that is rare. So I hope you don't mind if my brandy gives the applause since you won't hear it anyway. Send some read request some time. Nice write.
I like the last stanza. After a long day, the city is peaceful but more the resting of the mind and body is what is so calming. Love that message. :D ---mishel xxoo
this is a great poem, I enjoyed it more due to the fact that I have lived some of these things.
I have sang with no one to hear but the drink in my hand.
I have dreamed with my eyes wide open.
Thank you, I really enjoyed this
This is a fragrant and miraculous tale...woven of so many wonderful images...ones that would be beautifully depicted in reality would that we could all see through the beauty of your eyes...thank you for sharing such a masterpiece. Lovely poem indeed. Thank you.
