This is Real War

This is Real War

A Poem by J. Write

This is Real War

Up the hill, there was a war

No weapons needed, he told us so

 This is real war

How could we fight without weapons?

“No weapons!” he said. “This is real war.”

There is no war without weapons?

Bring your hearts, bring your souls

This is real war

We listened not and packed the weapons

How could we win without real weapons?

The world watched as we wore the armour

Kisses from the children, tears from our mothers

“Come back son,” my father whispered

With Beautiful memories in our hearts and mind

We began the journey up the hill

Up the hill, there was a war

Then we arrived

Over my shield, I saw no enemies

All day and still no war

Then, Hunger struck from East to West

North to South diseases spread

Broken hearts screaming in pain

Greed flourished without shame

Lies became our daily feast

Poverty loving every other day but Christmas

Jealousy, my enemy, became my friend

Hatred devoured my heart

Courage escaped the stinking fear

We bathed in waters of discrimination

Baptised ourselves in the name race

If hope was there, I must have killed him

My best friend religion deserted me

The nature I loved, my enemy destroyed

Then we cried … I cried

“Is this the war?”

“Real War,” He said

I told you, no weapons

Bring love, and lots of love

This is Real War

I enjoyed writing this :) I had to stop myself before it turned into a chapter, else I would start on another book.

If only we could solve the world's problems this way, with just love. Instead, we feel weapons are necessary in such situations where they don't belong. I don't understand why all are so dependent on weapons to protect ourselves in tough times. As they say: "Love makes the world go 'round," but I doubt many believe that anymore.

this should be a book, a wonderful piece about the true nature of mankind and what war can do to even the bravest men. Your work is honest, revealing nothing but the truth, absolutely love it.

Wow this is a great idea!!!! I always knew that there were other kinds of war besides what people usually think of when they think of war (I am Becca Bishop, after all. I know everything!!! Well...actually....nah, never mind). I loved the line, "If hope was there, I must have killed him" It just reminded me of that one saying...I think it's something like 'we are our own worst enemies' or something along those lines....Anyway :D wonderful job!!!!

This is a different version of war, fought in one's mind, not on the battlefield. After all, that is the real war, isn't it? It's the one fought inside.

When and if we let God fight our wars..we always have a better chance of winning or coming out alive.

About
Well, writing about myself is one of the few things I can't do. I love writing - I guess that's why I'm here. Nature comes second, or maybe not. I think I love nature more than writing--No, I love wri.. more..
