Poetic License Temporarily Suspended

A Poem by Wrenlane
"

A jaunt through the uncertain artistic expression in poetry.

"

Sometimes I feel so hampered,

In ways that lead me to a measured void.

Is the rhythm and rhyme dissipating;

From the landscape of the written,

To horizons of chosen neglect?

Does it not give you pause for this impending,

And possibly grievous loss?

Were we assailed by the heartbeat of tempo?

Did our ears bleed from the chime of the rhyme?

Why the great divide, the chasm in thought,

From one soul to another?

I considered generational…ill-conceived?

Moreover we’re all conceived most uniquely

In the universe…in body, mind and spirit!

We crave it…our uniqueness!

We give chase to capture and learn of its essence!

What motivates us to do what we do…

Say what we say, think how we think,

And how we process life?

What drives us…light or darkness…good or evil?

Is love the passion in life that propels us…

Or is it a void that is filled with the antithesis…

Of what love is not?

If I seem perturbed, or confused at this point

Let me be clear and untangled…I’m not!

It is just my age and mindset of years.

That kept me tethered to the rhymes & rhythms.

It is the growing pangs of me reaching out,

Grasping for new frontiers of poetic expressionism!

Searching for a new way to write and say what I think.

Yet through it all, I must at some point, find similitude,

Peace and harmony with the uniqueness that is me!

So let me sum up with a verse or two,

That resemble a place and time I once knew!

A place of familiarity and comfort it’s true,

‘Cause for me it still works with high hopes still for you!

So if roses are red and violets are purple,

No two can express it the same cause we’re not.

So I will take solace, knowing life is a hurdle,

Then run my race with abandoned forethought!

Trust in my talent and words that I choose,

Be at peace with all of those that still strive,

To express in their words, the mind of their views,

And bury all angst that my peace may then thrive!

Not really sure to describe this one. Simply born out of thought as I consider the many different styles of poetic expression that I have had the privilege and pleasure of reading thru the years. However, would love some reviews>
