Unrequited LoveA Poem by WrenlaneImagine there's no answer to a heart desperately searching for the fullness of completion.
Sweet Release
That I would hunger to ingest this forbidden fruit,
Damn this strong desire that rips my soul asunder.
My flesh yearns to consume that, which I may not possess,
Yet like an addict this yearning rage resounds as raging thunder!
Each time my eyes drink in the vision of you I see,
Every nuisance of your face,
Every curve with which you’re graced,
How it would be to finally taste…the nectar from your nape.
Yet my imaginings won’t rest there, it’s almost as if I am driven.
To imagine me there inside you; could it be joy….or is it prison?
For me to have that sweet release, would it make my want decrease?
Not for a moment of my fantasy, is there no sound existentialism!
To make it even worse, though it’s hard to fathom it could be.
Is the toll upon my heart, as it yearns to be one with you…
Though its unrequited love, and no answers come thereof,
I am left alone to dwell in silent shadows made of misty blue.
Yet deep within the recess of my mind, a thought seeps in to end it all!
Temptation rises up...time and again,
Whispering…you should end this pain!
It will stop your tears that rain…and give your soul release!
But should I listen to a voice that I know is truly beguiling?
Should I leave this temporal plain?
Would it make my dream come true?
There’s no clear assurance that this will ever be…
So I’ll remain, live with pain, love from afar, the dream of you.
