What Is This ?A Poem by John McDonaldI just my Skullcandy headphones in today, and they sent me these gold and white headphones, instead of the sweet black ones. I was rather crestfallen. My heart is hammering my chest Announcing with each violent beat My oh so obvious anticipation
My fingers grasp for the box Ever twitching, ever fumbling The tape holds on, desperately To the cardboard with hope That it will not soon be discarded
But I conquer the sticky substance Tearing it from the box, flaps now open Reaching in, greedily, I dig Through the packing peanuts The bubblewrap chest
And there my treasure lies Gleaming in the artificial light Which hangs in the kitchen In all it's glorious splendor
But so suddenly my joy is smashed A frown creeps up my face Everything that was right in my world Is now all that could be wrong
Those b******s sent me The wrong f*****g headphones © 2008 John McDonald |
