To a Fault

To a Fault

A Poem by WordsFromAPen
"

Black or White, Yin or Yang, Left or Right... Right or Wrong? When youve only ever known one way of love, how can you accept the other?

"
It's my fault

I wasn't ready for it.
After all the darkness,
Shadows licking my wounds,
Leaving ash in the scars.
Reminence of my habits,
Addiction to coarse compliments
And slick caresses
A bungee cord over a cliff.

It's my fault

I wasn't ready for it.
A bright light toppling down,
Fresh water washing my wounds,
Giving patience to the scars.
Gifts of time, effort, patience
And sweet caresses
A helping hand away from the edge.

It's my fault

I wasn't ready for it.
How lucky I was and so foolish
To even debate which side to side with
Learned behaviour has taught me
That the dark and bitter are comfort
Whilst the soothing of light is alien
And I'm so messed up from it.

Its my fault

I'm ready for it.
But it's too late, I count my losses
As the only one to really chance it
Gave up as I gave in
Never have I felt such pain
As realising I've done it again.
I've let the narcissist win.

It's my fault.
