As Good As DeadA Poem by WordsFromAPenWhen incapacitated; you're socially as good as dead.
Do you recall when I checked in on you every day?
For no reason other than to know you're okay. Do you recall the gifts I gave? The ones given just to put a smile on your face? Do you recall my words of encouragement? My hands on your face enhancing the moment? You were having a rough day that I couldn't change But I tried to build you up in every way. Do you recall my kiss? When you were sick and helpless. I didn't want to miss an opportunity To taste your masculinity. Every moment that I've raised another, complimented, gifted, protected and cared for, only to be disbanded when I'm no longer of use when my physical capabilities surrender. I'm as good as dead when my legs can't part And my car is static. I'm as good as dead when they ask anyone how I'm doing except ask me themselves. I'm as good as dead when I'm in an empty home with only myself as a means to survive. I'm as good as dead when my uses cease and my presence is no longer here.
