Spit it Out - Part 2

Tis evening when I get the text

It rattles me to my core

9 months we’ve built up trust but

I’ve been here many times before

The pain sears through my lungs

As I dial you and wait

I know the excuses I face

As though I’ve finally taken the bait

I kick myself and argue too

How stupid I continue to be

I knew I shouldn’t have said it

Now I’m wailing like a banshee

With you, it should’ve been different

But now I know how I’m seen

It’s obvious you’re only scared

Of been caught out living the dream

You cannot find the bravery

To let go of your past

You’re too afraid to become someone

That wants to make us last

So alas, I must take some time

As I start this year in pain

To understand my self-worth

That you’ve began to strip away

We've spoken about our flaws

How we want to improve so much

But somehow as I move forward

You divert at another’s touch

Here it goes again,

This really cannot do,

Despite the fact that:

I love you
