Preparing for the EndA Poem by WordsFromAPenRealising that death is inevitable
Preparing for the End.
I'm calm about the tragedy That is the Covid-19 For I am aware of the drama That comes from a media stream In any step and any breath Your life may be taken away By any virus, any accident Your fate is a step away It's morbid to be calm A harsh truth that we must learn That fatalities do happen And death is on the cards My biggest concern about life Is not the past that I have lead No regrets for what I have done But sad it's only just begun Years of torment finally shed Through talking it over again To someone who finally listened And helped me find my head Growing into myself at last Knowing who I am inside A lover, a fighter, a dreamer all round And better for my new found pride Learning a skill to communicate A language spoken by the hands To get inside another world And meet folk from another land Unfortunately it does happen One day, to us all That we land ourselves at the end After a long and winding brawl I hope it's not today Tomorrow or next week But when the time finally comes I'll make my final speech Speak out to the people who hate Those who never relate To anyone or anything But lay their opinions down straight You are the ones who kill The heart and soul of a body A person who just wants to love Should never hurt this much You cannot change a heart That beats for the love of many It's pure and shy to those worthy But to you it's not so friendly. I give myself too often To those who love me not My love is all I have to give When my mind is always lost So when the time does finally come And I sure come to pass I hope there will be a memory of me That makes the smiles last. © 2020 WordsFromAPen |
