BeautifulA Poem by WordsFromAPenAnimals are more than just animals or pets. They're family. They're personalities. They're beautiful.
I was 6 years old
And begged for a kitten, Mum said yes And I became smitten. Picked you up Too many times "but I love him" I said That was never a lie. A love like that Was strong from the start, But grew ever stronger And took over my heart. Your beautiful eyes So deep and true Gazed at me As I did to you. From boxes to bags You hid inside, Playing on your instinct To hunt with pride. That beautiful face, I had no doubt, Had in its mouth A butterfly half out. That wasn't the end Of our playtime You continued on; Remained in your prime. Cradled in my arms For so many years I kissed your nose; Your belly and ears. You lay stretched out And basked in the sun, My boy so golden My heart overcome. Nature kissed you As I did too With love and light Throughout your life. So when the time came To say goodbye I struggled to admit it But it's easy to cry. Six days until sixteen I know you couldn't wait As much as I want you here, I have to accept our fate. Goodbye my beautiful boy, Sweet dreams and never forget The love I will always feel Until we meet again. My tears will ever fall For you left a huge hole Not only in my heart But also in my soul. © 2019 WordsFromAPen |
